Digital Puppet Camps
Last year, we resurrected Puppet Camps in the virtual world, and we were thrilled to see how many of you participated as speakers and attendees. Like many of you, I miss the serendipity and spontaneity of the hallway track at an in-person event, but I was heartened to see the connections made in our Puppet Community Slack channel as you collaborated on the different solutions you had developed to solve common problems.
It was also great to see how many new folks joined us who had never before attended a Puppet Camp, or who would not have been able to travel to an event under normal circumstances. Making the Camps digital broadened and enriched our community in unexpected ways.
Call for Papers open now
I’m excited to announce that our call for papers for 2021’s first two Puppet Camps is now open. To kick off 2021, we’re trying something a little different. Instead of holding Camps by region, we will be dedicating each Camp to a single topic.
Our first Puppet Camp will be on 25 March and the theme is getting compliance under control. 2021 will be the year that everyone finally gets a handle on compliance!
With new year’s resolutions in mind, our second camp on 15 April will be dedicated to becoming a better Puppet developer.
Puppet Camp: Get compliance under control: Thursday, 25 March 2021, 9:00am - 12:30pm PDT | 12:00pm - 3:30pm EDT | CFP Deadline: Friday, 5 March 2021
Puppet Camp: Become a better Puppet developer: Thursday, 15 April 2021, 8:00am - 11:30am EDT | 1:00pm - 4:30pm BST/GMT+1 | CFP Deadline: Friday, 26 March 2021
Why you should submit
If you have a great story to tell about how you wrangled compliance in your organization or tips and tricks for becoming a better Puppet developer, please consider submitting a talk.
If you have a talk idea that doesn’t fall into these two themes, submit them anyway! We may be able to fit them into a future Puppet Camp.
And as always, if you have any questions about your talk idea or want feedback, please drop them in the #puppet-camps room in the Puppet Community Slack. We look forward to seeing all of your great submissions!
